Oxybenzone/Escalol 567-This is a sunscreen active also known as Benzophenone-3 that is used in USA OTC sunscreen preparations. The typical usage level is up to 6%. It can also be used to prevent or reduce the fading of colors in finished products. The typical usage level for this application is 0.01-0.50%. To determine the optimum level for this application you must try several different levels of this material in your product and test the efficacy by exposing the product to sunlight to determine the most efficacious level. You should maintain a dark control sample for your comparisons. I have this material in both factory sealed 110-pound containers and also in repackages.

Witcohol 66/Isostearyl Alcohol-This is a light branched chain fatty alcohol used as an emollient in many skin care preparations. It is non-greasy and absorbs into the skin rapidly. In creams and lotions it can add "cushion". Fatty alcohols are also used to increase the viscosity of an emulsion. The typical usage range of this material is 2-5% but can be used at must higher levels when desired. I have this material in both 55-gallon factory sealed drums and also in repackages.

Candelilla Wax-This wax is used in many stick products and can be used in candles too. It has a melting point of ~72°C and is slightly tacky. In conjunction with carnauba wax this material provides structure in lipsticks and other wax stick products. It is derived from a South American palm tree and is therefore ‘natural’. I have this material is factory sealed 50-pound bags and also in repackages.

Beeswax USP-This is natural derived bleached white beeswax that meets all USP specifications. It is often used in sticks, candles and many other personal care products. It is a tacky plastic wax. It can be used in creams and lotions too but if the level is too high it will make the finished product too sticky. It can be used to increase the viscosity of creams and lotions and when used with Borax (sodium borate) will form a W/O emulsion. The Beeswax/Borax emulsion is often used as a cold cream type product or as an eye make-up remover. It is available in both factory sealed 50-pound cartons and also in repackages.

Carnauba Wax-This is a natural wax derived from a South American bush. It has a high melting point, 82°C, is brittle and has a shiny finish. It is used in sticks to raise the melting point for high temperature stability and to provide structure when used in conjunction with Candelilla wax. I only have this material available in repackages.

White Ozokerite Wax-This is a synthetic wax used in a variety of personal care products including lipsticks, lip balms, mascaras and other products. This is a hard, dry wax with a melting point in the 140°F range. I have this wax available in both factory sealed cartons and also in repackages.

Carbopol Ultrez 10/Carbomer-This material is a superior gellant used to thicken aqueous systems. It can be used to form water white clear gels and will suspend many solids in the gel matrix. The typical usage range of this material is 0.10-0.50%. This material is readily dispersed in water. To thicken, a dilute basic solution is slowly added to the dispersion with slow agitation to prevent entrapment of air. Commonly triethanolamine or sodium hydroxide is used to make the dilute basic solution. This is available in both 40-pound factory sealed cartons and also in repackages.

Penreco Ultima Petrolatum-This is a white long fiber petrolatum used in many skin care preparations for its emolliency and superior water repellency and skin barrier properties. This material is also used in lip balms and at levels over 30% is considered an OTC Skin Protectant. You can add zinc oxide to petrolatum for a diaper cream type product. I have this material available in factory sealed 55-gallon drums and also in repackages.

PVP/Eicosene Copolymer/Ganex V 220-This is a solid polymer most often used to provide water repellency to sunscreen preparations. It can be used to enhance the wear and durability of many types of cosmetic preparations. The typical use level is 3-5%. Octyl Palmitate/Ceraphyl 368-This is a light emollient ester used in a variety of personal care products including foundation make-up, eye shadows, skin care and sun care. This emollient is readily absorbed into the skin with a matte finish and leaves a silky feel to the skin. The typical use level is from 1-15% in a product. I have this material available in 55-gallon factory sealed drums and in repackages.

Lanolin Oil-This is a light colored liquid fraction of whole lanolin. It is used in a variety of personal care products for its emolliency and its cushion on the skin. It is often used in lipsticks and lip balms. It is a superior pigment wetting agent for the dispersal of both organic and inorganic pigments in cosmetic preparations. Typical usage level is up to 10%. I only have this material available in repackages.

Liponate SS/Cetyl Esters-This is a waxy emollient that has a texture similar to spermaceti. True spermaceti is no longer allowed in the USA because it was derived from whales. For many years chemists have been using cetyl esters as a replacement for this elegant emollient. The normal usage level for this material 1-10%. It can be used in creams, lotions and stick products. Phenonip/Phenoxyethanol (and) Methylparaben (and) Butylparaben (and) Ethylparaben (and) Propylparaben-This is an extremely effective preservative system that is widely used in personal care products where one wants to avoid formaldehyde donors. It has no harsh odors and in fact Phenoxyethanol is often used in aroma chemistry for its characteristic rose odor. The typical usage level for this material is 1.0-1.5%. This liquid is very easy to incorporate into most personal care products and is resistant to heating to normal process temperatures. I have this material available only in repackages.

Phenoxetol/Phenoxyethanol-This is pure phenoxyethanol that is used both as an antimicrobial and as an aroma ingredient in perfumery. It can be used to preserve personal care products at levels up to 1%. It is recommended that you also additional preservatives synergistically with phenoxyethanol to insure broad spectrum control. Dow Corning 3225C/Cyclomethicone (and) Dimethicone Copolyol-This is an interesting material used to form silicone and water emulsions. Very unique crystal clear emulsions can be formed at room temperature using only standard agitation after matching the refractive indices of both the water and oil phases. Other emulsions can be made using this product that have unique tactile properties in conjunction with cyclomethicone (volatile silicone). These emulsions can be used in a variety of skin care products as both creams and lotions. Typical usage level is 2-15%. I have this material available only in repackages.

Dow Corning 344 Fluid/Cyclomethicone-This is a mixed tetramer/pentamer volatile cyclic silicone fluid that is used as the vehicle in many types of personal care products. When used with Dow Corning 3225C above and the refractive indices of the water and the oil phases are matched it is possible to make clear water in oil type silicone emulsions.
I have this material available as a repack only in both one-gallon bottles and five-gallon pails.

Emersol 132/Stearic Acid-This is a benchmark grade of stearic acid from the Emery division of Henkel Incorporated. When neutralized with an alkali like triethanolamine it forms an extremely mild emulsifying soap for use in all types of O/W emulsions. This material is available in factory sealed 50-pound bags or in repackages.

Amphisol/DEA-Cetyl Phosphate-This material is a phospholipid emulsifier for making O/W emulsions. It can be incorporated into either the water or the oil phase of a product and because of its phospholipid nature is very mild on the skin. The normal usage level for this product is 2-5% in an emulsion. I have it available in 40kg factory sealed cartons and in repackages.

Kessco EGMS/Glycol Stearate-This is a fatty acid ester used in skin care and hair care products. In skin care products it is a light emollient that does not build high viscosity like glyceryl stearate. It will make a light bodied cream when used between 3-5%. In shampoo systems glycol stearate is used to create pearlescence. When used at 2% in a shampoo this material gives your shampoo an outstanding pearly appearance. It can also be used in hair conditioners to impart conditioning and wet combability to the hair and also provide a pearlized appearance to the product. I have this material available in factory sealed 200-pound containers and in repackages.
